This past week had my head spinning and preparing for one of 2 Craft Shows I did this year. I spent an entire week making extra Parker’s and trinkets, cutting up canes for more millefiori flower necklaces, designing dragons, & much more.
I don’t take near as much as I used to when I go to a craft show. I take a few of each different kind of StoryBook Scene. Oodles of Parkers are stashed in egg cartons under the table for when the rest are adopted. My chubby figurines (an older Kater’s Acres store item that I still make & sell at craft shows) are always a hit, as well as the pet rocks, and the caned flower necklaces. None of the last items are available for purchase online, but they are available in all my local shows or if you come & shop in my studio.
And of course after all that claying and all that preparation, I made quite a MESS in my studio. Add to that the fact that my studio is being photographed today by a REAL photographer … it was time for a deep cleaning. So all those “little things” that I had let slide, I decided that it was time to finally do. The biggest challenge? Sorting 64 (yes I did say 64) bottles of acrylic paint into little dishes that will make adding details to some of my creations much easier. AND … I even took the time to set up my very own painting station.
This week I’m inspired by a new creation from Dragons & Beasties, called Pink Frosting. Doesn’t this little pony look like the perfect little frosted cupcake? I just love her! She’s participating in two events with her friend, Sculptober & Inktober. A daily sculpting & drawing event for the month of October. Next year I might challenge myself to do the same thing!
Every week I choose 1-2 artists whose work has caught my eye during the week. How do you catch my eye? It’s simple … use social media. Here’s a few easy ways to catch my attention: become part of FaceBook groups I am also on, showcase your work on your FaceBook page, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest, or even tag me @KatersAcres in your photos on FaceBook.
What’s going on in your studio? What are you working on? Is there a project you’d like to see me tackle and feature on the blog? Let me know in the comments below. I’d love to hear your thoughts & ideas!
