How to Use Built-In Etsy Tools on the Etsy Site by KatersAcres

Some of my favorite “Tools” that I Use for Etsy

I was recently emailed by one of my Build Your Brand readers asking me, “there has to be a better way” in regard to writing new listings.  And I paused for a moment and wondered why she was building each item new again.  And then it dawned on me, that maybe no-one ever took time to teach her some basic Etsy tools and tricks to help making your job of listing so much easier.  So today, I’m going to tell you a few tools on Etsy that I use to help maximize my time online.

What is a Tool?

A “tool” is something that you use that helps you meet your end goal.  For example, if you want a nail in a wall, you use a hammer; if you want to list on Etsy faster, you use the “copy” method.  Today, I’m going to tell you about my favorite Etsy tools or shortcuts to help you get your work on Etsy done in a fast & efficient manner.

Etsy Tool #1 – Copy

Etsy Tools - Copy FeatureThis is the most underused tool in all of your Etsy listings, the really nice little “copy” button.  This little Etsy tool can save you so much time! If you are selling things in your store that are always made from the same materials there’s really no need to recreate a listing from scratch every time you list something.

CAUTION: Make sure you re-read every single blank if you have copied an add!  It is very easy to forget to change tags, options, features, store category, and even price.  If you are going to use the copy feature, you must be sure to read and double check every single blank.

Etsy Tool #2 – Shipping Templates

The most overlooked tool is one that is relatively hard to find on Etsy … how to alter or create your own shipping profiles.  When you are on your listings page, click on shipping in the left sidebar.  You be de delivered to the page at the right (top).  All you have to do is click “Create or edit Shipping Profiles” and you can alter, edit, and create new shipping profiles.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO DO THIS?

You want to do this because on all your listings, when you get down to the “shipping” field near the bottom of your item form you can click an automatic shipping profile that you’ve created instead of filling in new shipping profiles and information all the time.  YAY!  How easy was that?!

Etsy Tool #3 – Save as Draft

This is one of Etsy best features (in my opinion). Let’s say that I have twenty minutes to  write up a quick ad, but I don’t have time to do the pricing, or even worse, I do not want to list it yet because it’s not my “prime” hour.  So … simply write up your Etsy listing and “save as draft” for later!  This couldn’t be easier and it will save you time in the long run!

  1. Thanks for the info on Etsy Tools. I do the same kind of thing when creating a listing for certain types of items but have always used my own version of a template. I’ll certainly take a look at the Etsy features.

Surprising what we don’t see even when it is right in front of our noses.

    Thanks again.
