WIP Wednesdays in Kater's Acres Polymer Clay Studio

Another week has come & gone. This past week I was wrapped up with the B’Sue Boutiques gang at her Second Annual Workshop. Here’s a bunch of stuff from my studio over the past 2 weeks. I’d love to see what you’re working on too. Feel free to share with me what you’re working on in the comments below. Post a link to your WIP post or a photo.

The past two week’s WIP (Work in Progress) has run the gamut from sculpting, dragons, beads, & prepping pieces for an upcoming event & mini-sale. There’s always a lot going on in my studio. I haven’t been near as good about taking photos as I used to either. I’ll do better, I promise. You can always see my “behind the scenes” glimpses and work on Instagram as well so be sure to follow me there.

  • In preparing for the workshop, I made some custom little “backers” for my pendants & things that were thus far not placed onto any jewelry. To do this, I just stamped card stock with my Parker logo and used watercolors to accent the little card stocks to match the pieces. This is an idea I got from Christi Friesen.
  • Lots of dragons were adopted over the past two weeks. Here’s a few of them getting ready to go to their new homes.
  • ACK! Avert thine eyes … Parker is naked! This cute little photo got a lot of attention on both Instagram and FaceBook profile.
  • My Parker yellow Keurig coffee pot traveled with me this weekend. Life is too short for bad coffee. This little yellow pot goes with me whenever I travel. It’s the pot that also has permanent residence in my polymer clay studio.
  • I wrote a post last week (read it here) about some of the things you should take to a workshop, one of which is a name tag. I made this name tag necklace using a B’Sue Boutiques bezel (you can get your own here), polymer clay, micro millefiori canes, & some mica powders from Christi Friesen’s “Making Waves” set. I used the mica powder “Tortuga,” one of my personal favorites in the set.
  • This little soccer girl was a custom design for a very special varsity soccer graduate. It features her likeness, a soccer ball, and her school’s symbol of a maroon tomahawk. I hope she loves her gift!
  • And … a little snack while I clay, some SweetTart Hearts I had left over from Valentine’s Day. Oh yum yum are they absolutely great!

Weekly Tidbits & Fun

  • Kater's Acres playful companion, Mocha LatteMy beloved puppy, Mocha Latte, is growing so fast! She’s now 21 weeks old and weighs over 30 pounds. She likes to be “higher” than everyone else … so this week when I went to let her in, this is what I found.
  • I just want to extend an additional “thank you” to miss Brenda Lansdowne of B’Sue Boutiques. She is a fantastic woman with a giving and gracious heart. I am proud to call her my friend.
  • This week we say “goodbye” this week to my beloved cousin, John, who has struggled the last few years of his life with health concerns. Please keep his wife, Janet, in your prayers this week.

Want to be an artist of inspiration for the week?

Every week I choose 1-2 artists whose work has caught my eye during the week. How do you catch my eye? It’s simple … use social media. Here’s a few easy ways to catch my attention: become part of FaceBook groups I am also on, showcase your work on your FaceBook page, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest, or even tag me @KatersAcres in your photos on FaceBook.
