A Busy Week in Kater’s Acres Polymer Clay Studio
Soccer Pens, Dinosaur’s, Fall, & Cane Making
It has been a VERY busy week. I know it doesn’t look like it from this measly little picture shown above. But just to demonstrate the amount of time spent on the polymer creations I make, I’m going to do a breakdown of time involved in making the items shown above. I’ve never done a blog post like this, so this will be an experiment for me. If you LIKE this kind of a post, please leave me a comment below. (NOTE: Most items are shown in round numbers rounding either up or down in 15 minute increments.) Continue reading WIP Wednesday: Time Management
Polymer Clay Tip 2: Corn Starch Mini Jar
Posted on — 4 CommentsPolymer Clay Tip Tuesday
It’s “back to school” for many children in our area today. Being from a rural community, school rarely starts until after Labor Day. So, since everyone is going back to school, how about a polymer clay tip to get us started! This past WIP Wednesday I mentioned a little trick that I use to keep my beads (especially flat caned beads like the ones above) holding their shape during the baking process. We all have things that we do in our studio to “help” us in our creativity. Although I am not primarily a jewelry designer, but rather a sculptor, that doesn’t mean that I don’t make jewelry or don’t at least make jewelry components.

Well … another week has come and gone. Everyone in our area is back to school and it’s become a little more “crazy” with everything that needs to get done before fall arrives. I don’t know about where you live, but here in NW PA, it’s been unseasonably cool this summer. We only topped 85 degrees twice this year. This is great for me. I’ve never been one for summer anyway. I’ve been a little busy getting ready for a big craft show I have coming up in October, as well as a few special surprises! This being said, let’s get on with WIP Wednesday … shall we?!

There certainly has been a lot going on this week in my studio. It’s the time of year when I am busier than ever. Not only with orders, but with the huge amounts of gifts that I make each and every year to give to family, friends, or loved ones. Here’s a peek inside my studio, see what’s going on and what I’ve been working on since last Wednesday.

Posted on — Leave a commentWell, this is the final book review for Christi Friesen for the Friesen Project of 2013. It has been a great year filled with projects, fun, and much more. I certainly hope that you have enjoyed it and had fun getting to know your clay once again. Look for another HUGE project coming your way for 2014 and a new FB group to join as well. Next year’s project will be much different, but very fun & enjoyable!

Well …. sometime technology is a real pain in my squirrel tail. I used a “real camera” instead of my iPhone to take your tutorial pictures this week hoping that since we’re now back to “full tutorials” that they would be awesome pics. Somehow my SD card became “corrupted” and I have lost everything on it, save for 4 pictures … of course of the END of the project! ARG! *Insert horrible frustrating sounds here* So … this being said today’s “tutorial” sadly will be more of a non-picture commentary on the project. I cried over this problem this morning, pulled myself together and then took a deep breath. So instead of a tutorial, today you get a “what-atorial” … my code name for “what just happened to my tutorial pictures?” Deep breath …. and moving on …
