Ginger Davis Allman of The Blue Bottle Tree, Artist Showcase

Ginger & KatieAs many of you know, this past summer I took a week and traveled down to the Ozarks to spend time with my friend, Ginger Davis Allman of The Blue Bottle Tree. Ginger and I have spent the past several years getting to know each other, but really have become more acquainted over the past 6 months by realizing we have far more in common than just polymer clay … like our mutual love of fountain pens!

On Monday each of us will be telling you all about what we did, the work we accomplished, and what we learned. But today, we are each going to take the time to have a sip of coffee with you! That’s right, with you. When we got together we decided the clay world must get to see a little more of the “real us” not just the face behind the typing. So hopefully today’s video interviews will let you see a little bit more about each of us.

Ginger’s Art

Organic Beads by Ginger Davis AllmanFor those of you who have been following us on FaceBook, you know that we have been exploring your “voice” in polymer clay. Ginger is primarily known in the polymer community as our “tester.” She does wild, huge, complex experimentations with polymer clay. Basically, she saves every other polymer clay artist a lot of work. While Ginger will not claim herself to be an artist, she certainly is one. Her look is very organic, natural, and usually seeks to imitate something in the natural world whether it’s a look to her beads (like her Organic Beads), mimicking carnival glass (Faux Glass Effects), or making tapestries so gorgeous you’d think they were fabric.

Fair Warning

I’m not the funniest person in the world, but I do know I’m vivacious, light hearted, I can be loud and a little too energetic for some. But Ginger did well and for that I owe her. In fact she didn’t seem the least bit bothered by my “Katie-ness” as my hubby call it. In fact the two of us together were like kids in a candy shop! We could barely contain ourselves for an entire video. In fact … we couldn’t do it. Despite our best efforts. [Be sure to watch through to the end for our blooper reels!]

  1. I enjoy both of these artists immensely. They share so much, and for those of us that are unable to take classes for health or financial reasons it is so appreciated. To have them present together is heaven!
