Cats Book Review

It’s once again Friday!  Let the party begin!  For the first Friday of the month let’s gear up for Christi Friesen’s “Cats” book review.  This book is perfect for cat lovers of all kinds: domestic cats, big cats, wild cats, and prairie cats too!

Christi Friesen Cats Book Review

What You Will Notice:

Christi Friesen Beyond Sculptures Book 4: Cats

Our kitty cat, SmokieUntil I adopted my own kitten, Smokie, I did not have an appreciation for small felines … however, I have had a long love of Big Cats, particularly White Bengal Tigers.  I love them.  Why?  I do not know.  Secretly I’ve always wanted to raise White Bengal Tiger cubs … but I also realize this is dangerous and unrealistic, so instead I just dream about them and adopted a little tabby cat.  She makes me laugh every day….

Moving on! I love this book because of the big cats in the back.  Christi has a way of taking these gorgeous creatures and turning them into artistic works of art.  WOW!  The “big cats” are what makes this book for me…but that being said, we will devour all the projects (especially those cute little kittens with yarn balls – what’s not to love?!).

  1. I’d luv to win this book. I have many of her books just not this one.
As for attaching items to your clay, super glue works great you can even bake with it. You can use liquid pc if your attaching prior to baking. I hope this helpful.

  2. My biggest struggle with polymer clay is creating dimensional pieces with texture. am constantly wanting to smooth things off. Also figuring out what to stick pieces together with when adding things that are not clay.

  3. I am really enjoying seeing the pieces made. I would love to win the book.

  4. I would love to win this book! Thanks for a great giveaway!

    1. I realize I didn’t answer your question, lol. My greatest struggle at the moment is finding time to create.

  5. Can’t connect the faceted ring neither? Need some help

    1. I’m guessing that you probably don’t have a Pinterest account. The direct link to the faceted ring tutorial is here: http://www.poppytalk.com/2013/03/diy-faceted-clay-rings.html

  6. Cant connect to the faceted ring tutorial. Any suggestions?

    1. I’m so sorry you’re having trouble. It’s a link to the Pinterest pin, so perhaps if you don’t have Pinterest you can’t see it. The direct link to the faceted ring tutorial is here: http://www.poppytalk.com/2013/03/diy-faceted-clay-rings.html

  7. Hope I win!

  8. OOPS! Too catnipped today. Keeping fur out of my clay!

  9. I am a cat.

  10. Keeping my fingers crossed for the book 🙂

    1. Oh and my greatest struggle with PC is making color cards. I know I should do that every time I mix colors so it’ll be easier to duplicate the color but I am SO bad with that!

      1. I have NEVER made a color card Astrid. I make very few things that colors need to be duplicated so I never do that either. I’m sure one day that I will be sorry I didn’t though.

  11. My biggest struggle is eyes. I am working on it. 🙂

  12. my greatest stuggle is knowing when enough is enough and not destroying all my hard work, but then thats not just with Polyclay….. Nx

  13. My biggest struggle with polymer clay is getting my ideas to translate. I have all these really interesting things in my head and I have trouble either getting them out or thinking the thing I’ve made isn’t good enough for what I thought it should be.

    1. I sometimes have this too Sam. I have an idea in my head and what comes out in clay is close, but not exactly what was in my head.

  14. My greatest struggle is the engineering for my sculpts

  15. Used to have the book but it was destroyed on me, along with all my other supplies! Been building them back up again and working hard but still need to replace this book……pleasepleasepleaseplease…….

  16. Love your tutorials. Hope to win the book. My biggest struggle is I’m a visual person and need amounts listed to make what I want. You help me a lot.

  17. Done!

  18. THANK YOU! Looks like a fabulous book…I dont have many books in my library, and none about cats….would be nice…

  19. My greatest struggle is figuring out which colors to use! So many awesome choices!

  20. I have trouble with color choice as well. That’s why I tend to make lots of Rainbow things. Hard to go wrong there, LOL.

  21. Greatest struggle with polymer clay is finding the right thickness in detailed work to not break!

  22. The hardest thing I find about working with clay is getting my stuff to look as good as what I see others do. LOL! I try; but I have a problem with it. Oh and colors. I seem to pick the worse colors! UGH!

Sure would LOVE to win that book! 🙂

  23. I need the Book.. Fingers crossed ^_^
