2016 Polymer Clay Challenge
February Sculpted Faces
The reason that I started the Polymer Clay Challenge back in 2015 was to get people to GROW in their polymer clay skills. In 2014 I was literally terrified of making polymer clay canes. I decided that there was going to be nothing I couldn’t do and I began to cane. While I still lack intricacy and precision. I can comfortably make my own canes and no longer “fear” making them. Please read January’s post on the subject for more information.
I have always been drawing to the fantasy sculpture realm. Until this year my sculptures have been more cartoon like. Which makes my soul sing because that’s what I like … but this year I decided that I would make it a personal goal to try my hand at whimsical facial sculpting. Not realism, but fantasy realism.
February’s Sculpted Faces
My goal for the 2016 Polymer Clay Challenge was to create just one fantasy face per month … clearly I’ve done more than that this month. I had a lot of fun creating each of these. While I feel one was a total failure, I do feel that I learned quite a bit in sculpting each of these. What am I going to do with them you ask? that is a great question that I can NOT answer at this time.
Materials Used: Hand-blended Custom Color Super Sculpey & Premo! Polymer Clay, Wooden Beads, Mica Powders, Blending Chalks, Acrylic Paints
This month I created a total of 5 dragons and 5 faces. I did it – Woo hoo! Follow my progress here.
