Polymer Clay Tool, Canebenders with Teresa Pandora Salgado

Learning and adapting new tricks with polymer clay is always fun! This past year, Teresa Pandora Salgado released her new tool set to help make interesting polymer clay canes, Canebenders!

Who Is Teresa “Pandora” Salgado?

Teresa "Pandora" SalgadoTeresa “Pandora” Salgado is no stranger to KatersAcres or to the polymer clay world as a whole. [You can get her Top Five Techniques for making canes here.] She’s taking caning to a whole new audience. She’s taken the fear right out of making the “perfect” cane. While there’s still room for perfect canes like Julie Eakes or Wendy Jorre de St Jorre; Pandora’s natural teaching style let’s anyone (even me) feel GOOD about their canes, even when they do come out half wonky (like 50% of mine).

What Are Canebenders?

Polymer Clay Tutorial of the Month, Cane Benders with Teresa Pandora Salgado - January 2016 | Get MORE polymer clay tutorials at KatersAcres.comCane Benders are a new tool that will help you change the shape and lines of any clay cane you are building. (Watch Pandora’s video below for a demonstration). But Canebenders are also more than that. You can use Canebenders for sculpting too. The smallest one is especially good at smoothing lines on large figurines and joining seams on piece-worked polymer clay.

To the left you will see a cane I made that was inspired by Pandora’s tutorials (see the video below). You can make your own cane very easily with a few simple jelly roll canes as Pandora demonstrates. Pandora is a well known teacher for her Curious courses as well as being a teacher for both years of the Polymer Clay Adventure.
