Free Fabric Mask Pattern

Category

When there is a need, rise to it. This free fabric mask pattern is a desperate need across the US and here in Ohio.

For a few years now I have been helping the Cystic Fibrosis staff and patients through small outreach projects seasonally, like the CFRainbowTree, through my hospital. One of those small projects that I haven’t mentioned here has been the regular donation and supply of handmade masks to the patients with the help of my Mom, Diane Dillon.

The hospital has reached out to me during this crisis and asked if we can help them to provide these masks to the doctors, nurses, and staff on the frontlines of this pandemic.

Bagging CF MasksWhen there is a need, rise to it.

As you have likely read, there is an incredible shortage of protective masks all around the United States. While these don’t offer the same protection as N95 rated masks, any mask is better than none. Read about the science behind handmade masks and how they do work, albeit not at the same rates as an N95.

I have spent most of my adult life wearing a mask in hospitals and crowds, masks made from fabric and N95 masks too. Please make as many of these as your supplies allow and donate them to your local hospitals who have posted the need. During this pandemic it is vital that we help each other, look after each other, and care for one another. Making a mask for someone you do not know is just one small way you can do that. It is our duty to do just that. Read this wonderful article by the Washington Post calling on all Americans to help your country and make masks for our healthcare workers.

This download includes a PDF pattern as well as simple instructions. You may tailor this pattern as you see fit and as your sewing skills allow.
