Creative Road Blocks

As I write this post, my to do list has seemingly over 1 million things on it to get done.  Jeepers. I really don’t like that feeling.  In fact, often it is so much of a barrier for me that become a severe road block to my creativity.  Are you the same way?  When you have a million things to do, where do you begin to get inspiration?  For me, I simply pick some colors that look nice together and see where that palette will take me.  Why I’m “dry” finding a striking color palette is the beginning of that “ah ha” moment for me in my studio.  Since this color palette was such an inspiration to me this week, I’m hoping that it will be a springboard to your own creativity.

One of the things that artists need most is inspiration.  Sometimes we run out of creativity, draw a blank, and find ourselves out of ideas and with no idea where to start.  Color palettes are one of the ways that we can re-inspire ourselves.  Lately, on my FaceBook page, I have been offering up a weekly prompt to help you get inspired.  Today I will give you two different sources of inspiration, a color palette, and actually polymer clay colors for you to try out in your studio this weekend!  Every once and awhile I’m going to throw some prompts your way to help you dive back in your studio! Having a Color Palette is Essential to an Artist by KatersAcresDo you ever have one of those times where the ideas just don’t come?  You sit … think … try to create … and after several hours, all you’ve done is play around and there’s nothing “new” produced?  Well I’ve been so busy that aside from my orders, I’ve had one of those spells.  I’ve frankly been in a creative rut.  And it’s not so much that I don’t have ideas, for I have an entire notebook of ideas…but nothing sounds appealing to me!  *Sigh*  So to help me to get through these times I have done several things to help myself get “into gear.”  I’m sure that some of these ideas may help you as well.   Continue reading Inspiration for the Creatively Dry Using Color Palettes
