COLOR PROMPTS FOR YOU
One of the things that artists need most is inspiration. Sometimes we run out of creativity, draw a blank, and find ourselves out of ideas and with no idea where to start. Color palettes are one of the ways that we can re-inspire ourselves. Lately, on my FaceBook page, I have been offering up a weekly prompt to help you get inspired. Today I will give you two different sources of inspiration, a color palette, and actually polymer clay colors for you to try out in your studio this weekend! Every once and awhile I’m going to throw some prompts your way to help you dive back in your studio!
Color Palette Simplicity
In order for some color inspiration, all you need to do is to snap a few pictures around your area, yard, neighborhood, etc. For my picture, I took Parker out to my garden and place him amongst my mint herbs. I then used a photo editing program and added a “grunge” filter as well as a landscape color gradient to give the snapshot a little more “oomph!” The resulting photograph and color palette look like what you see at right. Sometimes creativity comes more easily when color palettes are given. See if you have an “ah-ha” moment when glancing at Parker’s color palette. Or better yet … try snapping your own photo and getting a color palette from it using this online app.
Weekend Polymer Color Prompt
As you get ready to begin your weekend in your studios, how about a little bit of color to get you started? In honor of the celebrations that will be taking place next week in the United States, your polymer clay prompt for today are the colors: red, white, and blue. Later tonight I will post my creation on the blog for you to see!
I hope today’s palette & color selections help you get back into your studio this weekend! Thanks for joining me today and don’t forget to sign up for more tutorials, prompts, and projects direct to your email. Sign up now.
