Creative Road Blocks
As I write this post, my to do list has seemingly over 1 million things on it to get done. Jeepers. I really don’t like that feeling. In fact, often it is so much of a barrier for me that become a severe road block to my creativity. Are you the same way? When you have a million things to do, where do you begin to get inspiration? For me, I simply pick some colors that look nice together and see where that palette will take me. Why I’m “dry” finding a striking color palette is the beginning of that “ah ha” moment for me in my studio. Since this color palette was such an inspiration to me this week, I’m hoping that it will be a springboard to your own creativity.
“SUMMER MOODS” COLOR PALETTE
Creativity with the Help of a Color Palette
During those frustrating times (as I mentioned above) there is nothing more helpful to me than color palettes. After conditioning all my clay, I was able to create many different things with this gorgeous color combination. As it turns out, more often than not, I ended up leaving the golden tone out in most of the creative endeavors … I just felt “happier” without the golden tone there.
Here’s a sample of a few of the pieces that came from this color palette. Clockwise from the top:
- A Pixelated Retro Cane inspired by Bettina Welker
- Pinwheels for a future StoryBook Scene
- An ink pen covered in that awesome pixelated cane
- A Lolly StoryBook Scene using the pixelated retro cane as a “rug” for Lolly to sit on
I hope today’s palette & color selections help you get back into your studio this weekend!
