This was one of the easier projects that we have had this summer.  I was able to make my polymer clay penguin from start to finish is about an hour.  You make take longer or be faster than me.  But I encourage you to try this week’s project since it is an easier project to do.

You will notice that I have started to deviate from Christi’s style for my sculptures.  I am a whimsical clay artist, I do not like realism in my work.  Because of this, my penguin has cartoonish and whimsical feet … including his purple color.  The “feathers” on the eyes are more pronounced and allow my penguin to look animated.  Even the way I blended by seams was different from the tutorial, the beak included.  This penguin is truly my own.  I urge you not to be a “mini-Christi” (as one of our project group had stated) but rather to find your own voice and make your sculptures your own.
