WIP WEDNESDAY
A Christi Friesen Weekend
What does Christi Friesen have to do with WIP Wednesday? Well … I spent more time this weekend claying with her than I do in any normal week. So therefore, this weeks’ WIP Wednesday is all about the lovely weekend that I spent with about 40 other wonderful people and Christi Friesen!
A Weekend With Christi
As many of you read from my posts last week, I’ve been gearing up to spend the weekend at a fantastic clay weekend hosted by Brenda Lansdowne of B’Sue Boutiques. I’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. I’m honored & overjoyed to have met such wonderful people. Truly, there are wonderful people all over the globe, but there must be something about women & clay that makes us all just get along and have a good time. For those of you who are reading this and were there (that’d be you Gloria) tell us about the fun you had below in the comments.
I encourage any & all of my readers that if Christi is EVER giving a class near you … take it! It’d great fun, you’ll learn a lot, and make oodles of new friends too.
My Gift to Christi
Since Christi & my collaboration on The Friesen Project last year, I have always wanted to give her a Parker StoryBook Scene of her very own. But it had to be a StoryBook Scene from The Friesen Project. Yes, I could very easily have mailed this Parker to her, but I didn’t want to do that. I wanted to hand it to her personally. The scene she received was a StoryBook Scene that was made in conjunction with month 6 – book 6, Birds of a Feather, the Peacock project. You can read the story about this Parker StoryBook Scene here.
The Many Faces of Christi
I took oodles of pictures at the event this weekend, but I took lots of pictures of Christi … not only is she an extraordinary teacher, but she has spunk, personality, fun, warmth, & a side-splitting funny streak. For those of you who have met her, you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you follow me on Instagram, I posted a bunch more pictures throughout the week that you can see there.
The Many Faces of the Weekend
It was such a joy & an honor to meet so many wonderful people this weekend. I made friends I will never forget and was touched by many wonderful faces & spirits. Perhaps the best comment to me of the weekend was from a lady that exclaimed, “Oh my goodness, you’re Parker’s Mom!” To which I proudly responded, “yes, I am!” Hahahaha. I wish I could attend more wonderful events like this more often, but I will take them when I can get them. The next time Christi comes to my area, you better bet I’ll be in her class again!
My Favorite Attendee
It goes without saying that I might be a little bias on this particular topic, however … my favorite attendee of the whole week … my Mom! I don’t get to share things with her very often. She only live 100 miles away, but often it might as well be 500 miles. It’s always such a joy to spend time her with and share things with her (like our morning latte run – boy was that a special treat). I was also joyfully proud that she found claying easy & really had a knack for it. A special thank you is needed to be said for Gina Hockett how cheerfully gave my Mom her ticket. Thank you Gina, I am grateful to have shared this with her. *Insert BIG virtual hugs to Gina here*

Beary by Christi Friesen
In an upcoming post, I will show you the creatures, critters, & wild art I made this weekend, but before I sign off for today … here’s the laziest group that sat around all weekend …. Seriously, they didn’t do anything. But I supposed they were allowed.
Thanks for joining me today,

Hi again, Katie! What a wonderful write-up! I really enjoyed reading it and scoping out all the pics again! :*
Thanks Catherine! It was so nice to meet you. I’m SO glad you were able to come.
Hi Katie
I love all your creations and last years Christie Friesen tutorials. I stretched my self and learned a lot from you. This past week I earned more about color choices and How to put them together for that pop of color and I thank you. As I told you at the workshop I look forward to your W.I.P. newsletters and blog. This was the best workshop of any kind I have ever attended and B’Sue did a great job. I love this medium as there is so much you can do with it and I am still learning.
Thank you again
