At the very beginning of 2023, I challenged my sculpting group to come up with a big-ticket item on their to-do list and just conquer it, straight away in the new year. This big-ticket item doesn’t have to be cost related, but it does have to be big in terms of time spent or given to something. So … my big-ticket item? I needed a new Kater’s Acres studio and fast. My current studio and office set-up wasn’t suiting my needs anymore. Not only had I outgrown the space, but most importantly, it wasn’t bringing me any joy. So after speaking with my husband, we decided that on Jan. 1st, 2023 we would tackle this big-ticket item.
This new year is going to bring many changes for Kater’s Acres. The first change was announced at the end of last year with the closure of my tools/supplies here on the site. I know some of you found this a surprise. But it wasn’t a surprise to me or my husband. We are a busy couple, but there are only so many hours in the day. Selling retail tools/supplies meant that it took away from what my heart wanted to do.
There are a lot of changes on the horizon for Kater’s Acres over the next several years and while I’m not ready to reveal all of them to you just yet, you will see them over time. I hope and pray that you will join me in those changes. For now, the first and most important thing is that I can get back to my sculpting table and bring you along for the journey. I’m so excited to get back to this! And I’m excited to take you along on the journey with me.
Here’s my new and improved studio. We did so much in here: filled cracks in the plaster, primed the walls (twice), painted the room with new paint in Behr Swirling Water, ran new electrics, rearranged furniture, got a new rug, new shelving for the walls, redecorated, and new (handmade) valances with this fabric from Spoonflower are on their way shortly. Luke (my husband) and I allowed ourselves a week and we worked long and hard hours to get everything done in just 3 days. Yep! Check out the behind-the-scenes photos I posted on Instagram.
Now Kater’s Acres is a beautiful, serene, peaceful, and happy place to be, and it’s filled with joy … just like my heart. I hope you’ll join me virtually to see the studio with your own eyes one day soon.
