Sometimes it’s not just a color palette that drives me and my creativity, sometimes it’s a theme. Today’s theme is one that drives a huge portion of my creativity … music inspiration.
It’s no secret that for crafters and hobbyists, one of the best places to find tutorials and projects on the internet is Pinterest. While Pinterest can be a wonderful resource, keep in mind that it is just that, a resource. I will attempt to weigh-in on some of the more pressing etiquette concerns facing both users and the people who create material for Pinterest.

It’s Friesen Friday once again (insert wild applause, cheers, laughter, and dance moves here) …. I hope that you have been having a good time making birds over the past two months. I know that I have! Today’s project is not from the “Birds of a Feather” Book, but examples of it can be found in the birds book with fancy birds, plain birds, and exciting birds of each of every page! This bird tutorial is actually from Christi Friesen’s other awesome book, “Polymer Clay & Mixed Media Together at Last.” Make sure to get this book before it goes out of print. Let’s get started, shall we?!

As a general rule of thumb, most craft shows have their own type of promotion. However, this does not negate the fact that your customers need to know that you are doing a show. There are several simple ways that you can help advertise the craft show that you will be participating in. Your show can only be a success if you take partial responsibility for craft show promotion.

For the Friesen Project, we are finishing up one of my favorite books, “Birds of a Feather.” For this week’s extra-special tutorial, it is a Christi Friesen inspired parrot! Let’s get started!

Despite the fact that it has done nothing but rain her at Kater’s Acres for almost 3 weeks … things are flooded, ducks, frogs, and mosquito’s abound! This being said, I’m wishing this summer had more sunshine and less rain. But, you know what they say, “Be careful what you ask for.”

You know what time it is? Yep, it’s FRIESEN FRIDAY! That means that today is going to be another awesome tutorial from Christi Friesen. As I write this post, my to do list has seemingly over 1 million things on it to get done. Jeepers. I really don’t like that feeling. In fact, often it is so much of a barrier for me that become a severe road block to my creativity. Are you the same way? When you have a million things to do, where do you begin to get inspiration? For me, I simply pick some colors that look nice together and see where that palette will take me. Why I’m “dry” finding a striking color palette is the beginning of that “ah ha” moment for me in my studio. Since this color palette was such an inspiration to me this week, I’m hoping that it will be a springboard to your own creativity.

The hardest thing that you need to decide when beginning to think about doing a craft show is: will it be profitable? Craft show profitability is one of the things that most people don’t consider. They consider the cost of the table or space, but miss the overall costs of the show. Today I’m going to give you some help in deciding if you craft show will be profitable for you and how to avoid a loss.

Well, yesterday was quite the day around here. And because I love you all so much … despite that we lost power for over 4 hours in the afternoon, I was so dedicated to each one of you that I had to finish my owl. So, without further ado, let’s get on with our projects today, shall we? Continue reading Friesen Friday: Owl Mania!

One of the things that artists need most is inspiration. Sometimes we run out of creativity, draw a blank, and find ourselves out of ideas and with no idea where to start. Color palettes are one of the ways that we can re-inspire ourselves. Lately, on my FaceBook page, I have been offering up a weekly prompt to help you get inspired. Today I will give you two different sources of inspiration, a color palette, and actually polymer clay colors for you to try out in your studio this weekend! Every once and awhile I’m going to throw some prompts your way to help you dive back in your studio! Continue reading Inspiration for Your Creative Weekend

For the summer months, the Friesen Project is going to look a little bit different. As I explained in the opening Friesen Friday of June, many of the tutorials for the Christi Friesen projects are coming from online resources. This being said, today’s project is not a complete tutorial. The tutorial can be found elsewhere online (see project information and link below). I had a lot of fun creating my polymer clay peacocks, in fact I made several of them. So get out your clay and let’s get started!
