My Fimo50 World Project Entry

This year FIMO celebrates it’s 50th birthday! Congratulations to Fimo Staedtler.

In honor of such a milestone, the folks at Fimo Staedtler are celebrating by having polymer clay artists from around the world make a 10 x 10cm tile that will benefit two major polymer clay charities: Dr. Ron LeHocky Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies and the wonderful ladies of Sumunnat in Nepal. You can visit Fimo’s announcement about this project and read more here.

Polymer Clay Book of the Month

If you are new to KatersAcres, welcome to the clay fun, wonderful, a tiny-bit crazy, but mostly a laid back learning zone! If you are not new to KatersAcres, welcome back. My goal with everything that I do here on the website is to make polymer clay engaging, fun, and accessible to everyone. You don’t need to be a professional artist to use this versatile medium. One of the new things I’m doing in 2016 is choosing one polymer clay book of the month to share with you. These books may be brand new, like January’s “Dogs” Book by Christi Friesen, or older and well loved, like this month’s Fairies, Gnomes, & Trolls by Maureen Carlson.

How to Play with Polymer Clay Colors

Posted on Leave a comment

One of the biggest issues that my students and new clayers face is learning to play with color and not to be afraid to do it. Today I’m going to walk you through a very simple process of how you can learn to play with triadic colors on the color wheel and make your own simply by learning how to play with polymer clay colors straight from the package.

For a more in-depth discussion on basic color theory, Parker’s Basic Color Theory eBook might be just what you need.

A Better Way to Store Your Glitter

Polymer Clay Storage Solutions by KatersAcres
Creative Glitter Storage Ideas

Polymer Clay & Glitter Storage by Katie Oskin of KatersAcresSometimes finding the “perfect storage solution” is not an easy task. You try things that work and things that fail.
