As many of you know, this past summer I took a week and traveled down to the Ozarks to spend time with my friend, Ginger Davis Allman of The Blue Bottle Tree. Ginger and I have spent the past several years getting to know each other, but really have become more acquainted over the past 6 months by realizing we have far more in common than just polymer clay … like our mutual love of fountain pens!
On Monday each of us will be telling you all about what we did, the work we accomplished, and what we learned. But today, we are each going to take the time to have a sip of coffee with you! That’s right, with you. When we got together we decided the clay world must get to see a little more of the “real us” not just the face behind the typing. So hopefully today’s video interviews will let you see a little bit more about each of us.

All this week at The Blue Bottle Tree and KatersAcres Facebook pages, we have been discussing your voice in polymer clay. We’ve garnished your feelings, thoughts, opinions, and even been surprised by how others define our individual voice. While I can’t fill you in on all the details of Ginger and my time together (details on Monday); I can talk a little more about your voice in polymer clay and developing it. Girl Boss? Try this mobile office solution! I used to take 4 trips from my office to the dining room table, just to tote all my stuff: planner, computer, iPad, iPhone… Inevitably I would sit down to work and realize I didn’t have my favorite fountain pen … so back to my desk I’d go. Okay, I have my pen … two minutes later, I recognized I didn’t have my notebook. So back to my desk I’d go and this would repeat itself several times throughout the morning. Does this sound familiar? Well … thanks to my friend Ginger Davis Allman of The Blue Bottle Tree, she helped me solve my problem with this mobile office solution. Continue reading Mobile Office Solution

Find yourself making oodles of clay veneers from my Faux Collage Techniques tutorial or other veneer tutorials? If so then you’ve likely realized something … stamps, paints, and so much more end up in the trash … why, because you had to clean your tools before you reused them or put them away. Enter my friend, “Can’t Bear It.” “Can’t Bear It” is the name of my art journal that I “clean” my products on. From my scrapers, brushes, stamps and more …

It is my pleasure today to introduce you to this wonderful lady. Shannon’s unique style has saw literally jaw-dropping results. It’s my honor and joy to host her here today.
I received several requests to share how I made this new pen & jewelry set from polymer clay. Here is a brief tutorial on how I made them. Details to make your own Faux Collage Veneers can be found here.

I have been getting many requests for me to share with you the techniques and steps I use to sculpt my faces. Right now I am fascinated with old man faces. This walk through will show you how to sculpt an old man face in polymer clay.

For many of you who have been around the polymer clay world for awhile, you will likely see the influence of both Dawn Schiller and Maureen Carlson in my faces. I have mentioned and reviewed both of their books here on the site: “Faemaker: Making Fantasy Characters in Polymer Clay” by Dawn Schiller [read the Top 5 Polymer Clay Books Post here] and “Fairies Gnomes and Trolls” by Maureen Carlson was our book of the month for April.
