Boho Fall Festival Polymer Clay Necklace by KatersAcres

Only One?!

For those of you who have been following my WIP Wednesday series, you will recognize this week’s offering is sparse. And yes, I admit that it is. I was gone from Wednesday – Saturday, only to return to get one thing accomplished. But it’s a good thing, isn’t it?! This polymer clay necklace will be taught in an upcoming video with B’Sue Boutiques as well as a PDF tutorial for Parker’s Clayful Tutorial Club which can be purchased by non-Club member here on the site. The tutorial that will be taught is “Zero Scrap Fall Flourish” teaching you how to make everything from the blend, beads, & leaves. Continue reading WIP Wednesday: Boho Fall Festival Necklace

TIME MANAGEMENT & BREAKDOWN

A Busy Week in Kater’s Acres Polymer Clay Studio

Soccer Pens, Dinosaur’s, Fall, & Cane Making

It has been a VERY busy week. I know it doesn’t look like it from this measly little picture shown above. But just to demonstrate the amount of time spent on the polymer creations I make, I’m going to do a breakdown of time involved in making the items shown above. I’ve never done a blog post like this, so this will be an experiment for me. If you LIKE this kind of a post, please leave me a comment below. (NOTE: Most items are shown in round numbers rounding either up or down in 15 minute increments.) Continue reading WIP Wednesday: Time Management

WIP Wednesday Play Time in KatersAcres Polymer Clay Studio

WIP Wednesday

Playing Around in My Studio

In last week’s edition of WIP Wednesday you may have seen a picture of The Polymer Arts magazine that arrived in my mailbox. I thoroughly enjoyed this issue & especially the reminder to “play.” That being said, after I got my orders done this past week (and started on some others) I decided I needed a little play time too. So this week I did a lot of things, and many of them just for me!

Polymer Clay Book Review Fantast Creatures in Clay by Emily Coleman, Reviewed by KatersAcres

Polymer Clay Book Review

One of the things that I love most in this world are books. Whether big or small, short or tall, it matters not. I love books and I tend to read and devour them very quickly. With this love for real books, comes a love for polymer clay books. I must have 100 polymer clay books, likely almost every book ever written! This being said, finding a polymer book that stands out from the crowd can often be daunting. This book Fantasy Creatures in Clay by Emily Coleman is a different type of a book. It is not a project book or a tutorial book. Rather, this book is detail driven.

Creative Tip 2 - Corn Starch Mini Jar by KatersAcres

Polymer Clay Tip Tuesday

Polymer Clay Tips from KatersAcresIt’s “back to school” for many children in our area today. Being from a rural community, school rarely starts until after Labor Day.  So, since everyone is going back to school, how about a polymer clay tip to get us started! This past WIP Wednesday I mentioned a little trick that I use to keep my beads (especially flat caned beads like the ones above) holding their shape during the baking process. We all have things that we do in our studio to “help” us in our creativity. Although I am not primarily a jewelry designer, but rather a sculptor, that doesn’t mean that I don’t make jewelry or don’t at least make jewelry components.

WIP Wednesday in KatersAcres Polymer Clay Studio | Prepping for fall & Halloween

WIP Wednesday

Well … another week has come and gone. Everyone in our area is back to school and it’s become a little more “crazy” with everything that needs to get done before fall arrives. I don’t know about where you live, but here in NW PA, it’s been unseasonably cool this summer. We only topped 85 degrees twice this year. This is great for me. I’ve never been one for summer anyway. I’ve been a little busy getting ready for a big craft show I have coming up in October, as well as a few special surprises! This being said, let’s get on with WIP Wednesday … shall we?!

Immersed in a World of Polymer Clay Color

Color Me Happy

I thrive on color. My world is colorful, happy, fun, bright, & cheerful. My polymer clay designs (for the most part) are an expression of that. Colors straight out of the package are pretty … but making your own colors? Now that’s REALLY pretty! Add in a Skinner blend or two and you’ve just opened a world filled with possibilities.
