Well, today would have been day 10 without an internet connection. Last week, in our sub-zero temperatures, our (and 93 other people) internet conked out … and never came back on. For the first few days I was okay. Then came the house cleaning, reading novels, & so much studio time. I forgot what it was like to be super-productive.
As often as I can, I will chronicle my journey through the 52 weekly cane polymer clay cane projects by sharing the tutorial that we were to learn from, what I created, & if it’s different a tutorial link or tutorial of my own for you to try.

Wow! It has been a blustery and COLD week here at KatersAcres Polymer Clay Studio. The temperature has been in sub-zero temperatures, with the high yesterday reaching -1 degrees Fahrenheit. YIPES!
Cataloguing and showing each of you my work here on the blog has been a wonderful way to keep me motivated and keep me claying. What keeps you going during the week to keep claying, sculpting, and working in your chosen medium?
Well, it’s been a year full of fun and adventure, and now the 2013 Friesen Project has come to a close. We have spent 52 weeks together and done over 40 projects. For those of you who hung in there and stuck it out, good for you! I hope you learned something about yourself and your clay. I hope you were able to develop your style and your voice over the past year.

I made this leaf cane the way shown in this worksheet because I wanted the gradient side portions. First, there is no right or wrong way to make this cane. I make it differently than some people, and I know that some people will make it differently than me. That’s okay. Once you can get the Skinner Blend mastered, it’s all a matter of using your sculpting skills to gently “persuade” the clay to do what YOU want it to do.
