Nothing says Valentine’s Day than juicy pinks, reds, and purples. I put together this perfectly juicy and a *little bit* metallic color palette to help bring some added dimension to the standard reds and pinks used during this claying season. ENJOY.

If you are new to KatersAcres, welcome to the clay FUN ZONE! If you are not new to KatersAcres, welcome back. Over the life of KatersAcres polymer clay adventures, we have played host to two year long endeavors with other artists. It’s my pleasure and joy today to introduce you to a polymer clay artist whose work and personality I truly love and admire, Melissa Terlizzi. I found Melissa through FaceBook over a year ago and instantly fell in love with her work, especially her animal sculpts [my favorites are her frogs]. I’d like to say a HUGE thank you to Melissa for jumping in and agreeing to do an interview. Without further ado … Melissa Terlizzi.

Learning and adapting new tricks with polymer clay is always fun! This month we are going to explore faux dichroic glass techniques using our favorite medium, polymer clay. This past year, Lisa Pavelka and I collaborated on a year long polymer clay project. To say “thank you” to all who participated, Lisa is joining us once again for a tutorial and giveaway (come back Friday).

Orange is a wonderful color … however, it is one of my least favorite. And no offense to any of you who like it, but the orange Premo is just NOT my thing. I like my oranges to have more of a pinkish undertone, more of a jewel-like tone I guess you might call it. This polymer clay color recipe could NOT be easier. Enjoy!

If you’ve been around KatersAcres for awhile, you already know that every once in awhile Christi Friesen and I get together and plan some fun and exciting things for you. This month has been filled with some of those fun things, including several giveaways of her newest book “Dogs.” This week we’re doing something ultra special … this week’s fun includes a free tutorial inspired by Christi’s Guardian Dog in her book, as well as THREE awesome prizes to be given away. [Psst: You’ll have to come back on FRIDAY to enter the big giveaway though.]

One of the things I love about polymer clay is its versatility. This polymer clay mask is made from a base of polymer clay, with hand-sculpted polymer clay leaves and jungle-themed vines.

If you’ve been around KatersAcres for awhile, you already know that one of my favorite seasons is winter. In honor of that, here is a FREE polymer clay winter steampunk pendant tutorial you might enjoy. Feel free to share it with others.

There’s fewer things prettier than the deep ocean blue colors that mottle together. In truth, any blue is gorgeous. I love the color blue, in fact, it’s one of my favorites. Coming up with variations of blues to use in my designs is always a fun adventure. I stumbled upon this clay color recipe completely on accident, but have used it several times already. Enjoy!

Learning and adapting new tricks with polymer clay is always fun! This past year, Teresa Pandora Salgado released her new tool set to help make interesting polymer clay canes, Canebenders!

Earlier this week I announced my plans for KatersAcres blog in 2016. [You can read the post here] One of those things is that each month I will introduce you to a ‘polymer clay book of the month.’ This book may be new, it may be old … but one thing will be sure. It’s a book that I like and think that you will too. I have several big artists and their books lined up all year, so be sure to check back on the first Friday of every month.

If you participated this year and were successful, take a journey through your photos and see how you’ve progressed during the year. No matter what you did, your first designs at the beginning of the year will likely look different from the end of the year. You have grown, you have changed, and your design ideas likely went through a transformation too.

My 2015 polymer clay challenge was to create (at least) one polymer clay dragon & one new Parker a week. As you go back through my posts, you will see on many occasions where I was only able to complete a polymer clay dragon. Poor Parker. Each participant in the 2015 Polymer Clay Challenge was encouraged to make something they want and decide on their own theme for the year.

Have you ever wanted to make something but you were tired of making it the same old way? Today’s polymer clay tip will demonstrate how to take one idea and make 5 different things. Specifically? Polymer clay ornaments! [Don’t miss last week’s series of 5 polymer clay ornaments you can make in under 10 minutes each!] Today however, this one idea, five ways are not just any ornaments, but they are polymer clay Christmas tree ornaments with Christmas trees on them. Sounds boring right? Perhaps not as much as you’d think.
